Environmental Impact Study
Grieg Seafood Newfoundland entered an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) review in November 2017. EIS includes a comprehensive environmental review of a project including a detailed description of the project, consideration of alternatives, original research on the existing environment, identification and evaluation of potentially significant environmental effects, an evaluation of proposed mitigation measures to minimize harmful effects and describes monitoring programs. The EIS was approved by the Provincial Minister of Environment and on September 6th, 2018 the Project was released from additional environmental assessment with conditions.

As a follow up to the EIS, 12 additional Environmental Plans were prepared which have since been approved by the regulatory authorities including;

- Genetic and Ecological interactions of escaped farmed salmon on wild salmon
- Genetic and Ecological interactions of escaped farmed lumpfish on wild lumpfish
- Performance of European-Strain Triploid fish
